Makeup Industry Advocate, Makeup Ghana, launches the 2019 Edition of Makeup & Beauty Week, its flagship week long celebration of the Ghanaian and African Makeup and Beauty Industry scheduled for April 26 to May 4, 2019.

Accra, Ghana. October 28, 2018; The Makeup & Beauty Week is a week long event organized by Makeup Ghana to celebrate, reward and promote stakeholders in the makeup and beauty industry. This includes artists, brands, retailers, wholesalers, consumers, industry advocates and public-sector partners of the makeup and beauty industry in Ghana.

Makeup & Beauty Week is made up of two flagship events: Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair, showcasing industry businesses to consumers, potential partners and investors from Africa and the world and the Ghana Makeup Awards, rewarding excellence and hard work within the industry.
The 2019 edition seeks to build upon the success of the first edition in April 2018. The policymakers, dignitaries, distinguished guests and consumers present, were all astounded by the sights and sounds of AMB Fair 2018 and the 2nd Ghana Makeup Awards. The aim of projecting the economic potential of the industry was therefore fully achieved with the support of NIB as Headline Sponsor and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

Makeup & Beauty Week 2019 is scheduled across two weekends from April 26th – May 4th, 2018, to maximize the festival vibe of the event. The theme for the 2019 edition is: Standardization, the catalyst for Transformative Economic Growth. The Makeup Industry is a fast growth industry in need of a catalyst to transform its economic potential into reality. Standardization across licensing and certifying practitioners; service delivery and the manufacture, distribution and retail of products, is required to move into this reality.
The 2019 edition comes amidst a new endorsement by the Ministry of Business Development. Speaking at the launch held at Swiss Spirit Hotel & Suites Alisa, Hon. Ibrahim Awal, Minister for Business Development, assured the industry of the support of the Ministry and encouraged the industry to think global in its ambitions. During an interview at the launch, Rebecca Donkor, CEO of Makeup Ghana said of Makeup & Beauty Week 2019:

“Taking lessons from 2018, we are expanding the reach and impact of the 2019 edition.

First, we are hosting it across two weekends, to increase participation by the public, especially for AMB Fair 2019. Second, we are expanding the number of categories at the 3rd Ghana Makeup Awards to recognize the hard work of more practitioners. Our Most Promising Makeup Artist Category will now have separate awards for Bridal, Editorial and Special Effects. We are also introducing an award for Ghanaian makeup artists outside of Ghana.
We look forward to another celebration of the makeup industry with all of Ghana and Africa.”
