African e-commerce platform Jumia has collaborated with Reckitt Benckiser; a British multinational consumer goods company headquartered in Slough, England. in a bid to help African consumers access affordable hygiene products in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

According to Global Cosmetics News, the two companies will supply items such as soap bars, disinfectants, and liquid hand wash at affordable pricing, with Jumia taking 0 percent commission on Dettol, JIK and Harpic, reinvesting the initial commission into discounts on the consumer price.

Reckitt Benckiser will be offering national free shipping on all listed products and consumers will be able to access all products on the ‘Stay Safe’ page on the Jumia site, co-owned by Reckitt Benckiser.

Available in eight of the markets covered by Jumia – Algeria, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Uganda – the partnership will also provide critical information around COVID-19.

Reckitt Benckiser has created the Mythbuster website to help update consumers on risks and best practices to avoid the virus from spreading, while Jumia is said to be creating several awareness campaigns that direct consumers to both the ‘Stay Safe’ page and the ‘Mythbuster’ website.
